Please help with these CEL codes......
Please help with these CEL codes......
In the morning when the car is warming up the idle is erratic and goes up and down. Sometimes the car surges on the road. I have a check engine light on and I read the codes with a scanner. The scanner read P2180 and P2178: system too rich off idle bank one and two, P2192 and P2194: system too rich @ higher load bank one and two, P0103: Mass or volume air flow circuit high input. Does anyone have any ideas? Does this sound like a mass airflow sensor failure? Thanks

Welcome to MVS.
Yes, it does sound like it could be your MAF sensor- Take the intake hose off from the air filter box and spray the sensor in the middle of the large hose (don't touch it), dousing it good with MAF cleaner (at your auto parts store) and let it dry...then reset your codes and see if they come back. If this doesn't work, then look for leaks in your hoses, including the large accordion air intake hose (you an spray Carb cleaner around areas you suspect with the engine idling and where you have a leak, the hoses will suck in the cleaner and your engine will surge- thus finding your leak)- much of the time leaks will cause false reading that mimic both 02 sensor codes and MAF codes. Still if this doesn't get it, then you may be in for a MAF sensor replacement.

Mine has the same symptoms but only gave me one code P2188 system too rich at idle. Same thing when I start it revs up and down erratically. Is there any particular MAF cleaner that is or ISN'T recommended?
q2-did you try the spray yet?
thanks

I believe it's CRS brand that Auto Zone has- that's what I've used.
