2002 XC70 w/45k mi need new struts??? Anyone???

Post by ibizman »

I have an '02 XC 70 with about 45k mi. I have noticed recently that the steering is less responsive and it seems to feel mushy in corners. I replaced the tires, which has helped somewhat, but I am not sure what the life on struts and shocks should be on this car.

Anyone have any suggestions? If I am to replace shocks/struts, would it also help to replace with springs that are more firm?

Just checking the options. The car has always seemed a little squishy in cornering, but more so lately.

Any advice/experiences welcome.

Thanks.

Hi, just had to replace struts on my v70 '01, they eventually gave up, it drove like there was no shox at all, the down side is that there are no aftermarket options, the big names list inserts, but they are no good as it is complete struts only from volvo, But what a difference, like a new car, should not need springs, mine was at 60000

Thanks for the reply. Sounds like I have the same problem.
I am curious if there is anyone out there that has considered suspension modifications in the xc70. Like sway bars??? There has always been a fair amount of body roll, even when it was new.
