Fuel Pressure Regulator????
While driving my 98 S70 T-5M this morning I experienced a sudden loss of power, that is, no acceleration but engine still idling followed by a strong fuel smell. Car returned to normal operation after pulling over but not shutting off engine. Upon leaving work the car was difficult to get started and again strong fuel smell for a minute or two and then normal driving function. I'm guessing the pressure regulator is about to quit. The car has 195000 km on it or for my American friends about 117000 miles. Upgrades include IPD ecu re-flash, 3" stainless exhaust, new cap, rotor(Bosch),NGK Iridium Plugs, Magnacor wire set, K&N air filter, fuel filter recently. Any ideas would be extremely helpful as this is my daily driver.

Since the fuel filter was done recently, I'd take a look at that. Maybe you have a leak.Ragman wrote:While driving my 98 S70 T-5M this morning I experienced a sudden loss of power, that is, no acceleration but engine still idling followed by a strong fuel smell. No leaks detected. Also, I've been using Shell's premium octane fuel here which was just recently introduced with Nitrogen enrichment for a supposed cleaning action. The car is difficult to start when warm, stalling until I can step on the gas pedal to aid the starting process. The tank is full as well from a fill-up last night. The starting problem is somewhat similar to the check-valve on the filter not holding the pressure in the line although that problem usually isn't present when the car has been driven recently. I did run the tank really low before this last fill and am wondering about the filter picking up dirt from the bottom of the tank.

That could be your problem if you do that frequently.I read somewhere at this forum that some members had same issues after refilling tank.Ragman wrote:I did run the tank really low before this last fill and am wondering about the filter picking up dirt from the bottom of the tank.
Poke a little around the forum...i'm sure that you'll find post about that.
