01 v70 oil trap

Post by carlsvolvo »

Hello, I have an 01 v70 non-turbo and dealer informs me I need oil trap replaced. Symptoms were whistle sound and smell of oil. They will charge $600.00 for this job. I am no master mechanic, but from what they told me it sounds like old fashioned pcv valve that I changed myself (okay, it was many years ago on my '60 Impala and '81 Granada) but could it require THAT much more labor?

Welcome to MVS.
Yes, it's a bear (actually, a lot of labor) to change as the oil trap is located under your intake manifold and therefore your manifold and injectors have to come out to change it and the related hoses. Make sure they replaced all of your smaller vacuum hoses when they did this... otherwise, about the price I would suspect for the job unless you do it yourself.
