V70XC '98 A/C and defogger problem

Hi I have 2 problems. First the climate control fan works like it has a power drain or bad connection. It comes on when I brake or release the gas pedal, and also when I push on the dashboard - otherwise it is off and erratic. Second, the defogger doesn't work at all. I have noticed "smoke" or mist coming out of the passenger vents when climate control is off - whichever vents are selected. Would like to have this repaired at minimal cost. Dealer injected die to see if the evaporator or heater core was leaking? but haven't gone back yet. Please advise and THANKS this is a great site!

Does your A/C work at all?
If not, then your defroster won't either as it uses the A/C.
Otherwise, it does sound like you have a short or grounding issue- you'll need to pull the lower panel on the passenger side and the glove box out to take a look the the blower motor and wiring to see what's going on.

The a/c actually does work since the dealer and I have both recharged the r134, its just intermittent and doesn't clear the fog. I'll check the wiring. Thanks
