koni sds shocks for 99 s80turbo

I have been looking for shocks for my s80 and found the koni sds shocks to be what I am looking for,however one detail in this installation is that you have to reuse the front struts. There is no nut holding the cartridge in place and if I understood correctly you have to cut the top of strut ,remove old cartridge and install new one and koni offers a way to retain new strut in place. Has anyone performed this modification , how did it work out? Is it worth doing the extra work or should I look for another shock?
