could anyone tell me where to get aftermarket wiring harness for radio or install kit thanks

If you're talking about aftermarket radio...usually every store which is selling aftermarket auto-radios should have them.

If you're talking about wiring harness for original(volvo)radio...i guess that junk yard would be the best choice.

do you already have the radio?

I've had good luck getting car stereo from www.crutchfield.com . Lots of their prices include the wiring harness for your car.

I haven't put aftermarket in my current Volvos but did on my 940 and got it from them with the harness. The install was a piece of cake.

the adapters i find are all for 4 speaker systems i would hate to downgrade from 8.... also i had seen somewhere u can make a rca/ remote adapter to the 6 pin (amp) plug. radio shack was no help in parts and everywhere else i look i get the runaround well it should work . anyone know of a company that makes an aftermrket adapterfor 8 speakers or can post a site on which i can order the 6 pin plug. i thank you in advance

The OEM stereos are wired from the factory as a 4 speaker system to the head unit. They just parallel the the rear door and rear deck speakers as well as the dash and front door speakers so there is no downgrade. The only variation on that theme is if you have a factory amp.

Most car stereos use an output impedance of 4 ohms for each of the four channels. Home units use 8 ohms.

Just bear in mind if you parallel connect another speaker on each output stage of the amp you are reducing the impedance (or resistance) of the circuit to 2 ohms. This can have a detrimental effect on the amplifier at higher volumes (ie. blown amplifier) because the amp effectively can double its output.

Better to series connect them, then connect a 8 ohm 50Watt resistor in parallel with the two speakers to bring the impedance back to 4 ohms.

This is what the correct adapter looks like:

I don't think you understand the situation here. Stock Volvo speakers are 8 ohms...
They're wired in parallel with all the existing stock wiring to present a 4 ohm load to the
HU from the factory. That's already done. No resistors needed. Honest!

And I don't know what that picture is of, but it appears to be a specialized
adapter for a specific application that really makes this all more confusing.

All a guy needs is an adapter that plugs into the stock harness in place of the OEM HU
and provides color matched pigtails to connect to the pigtails of the aftermarket HU.
