'06 S60 w/Rattles inside both A-Pillars

Post by kerldc1 »

Good morning! Premium fuel question handled--now a tougher question: how can I get these (sounds like)hard plastic/metallic rattles, seemingly inside both A-Pillars to quiet down? As an older guy, I rarely hear them, but they drive my wife nuts (and I can hear her for sure;-)
I have thought about simply taking off the fabric covers and stuffing in some bubble-wrap or thin foam sheeting, then reapply the covers. Any ideas?

I'd pull them off and see what's rattling in there. I think the connectors for the side curtain airbags are in there and are attached with nothing more than two sided tacky tape (I may be wrong on this one), but they could be loose and flopping around.

Saturday PM~Thanks otis44, you are surely right about taking a look. Local Volvo dealer claimed they "removed molding and padded to remove rattle" but I think only the passenger side as now the driver side has a louder rattle even I can hear without my wife's prompting. There's a small "parking ticket/pass holder" fixed to the lower end of the A-pillar and when I hold this tight with one hand, the rattle is 99% reduced! Duh, I'll just remove that and likely it'll be much quieter.
