Quiet tires for the '06 S60 2.5T?

Post by kerldc1 »

I've searched the matthewvolvosite for information on quiet tires, and noted that some Michelins were frequently recommended. Any model-specific recommendations for the S60, since at 4,500+ pounds, it's a heavy car and seems to be going through the OEM Pirelli P6 tires, now at 29K mileage? Quiet is our main request, safety #2, and durability #3. Who can advise us, as we're ~2,000 miles before we'll need some new ones?

Yokohama Avid W4S or H4s.

5f ou can give up some winter and wet grip then the YOKOHAMA Advan is said to be wonderfull.

I run the Avid W4s they are silent, long running and have great grip. by far the best set of tires I have had on my Volvo.

We've had great luck with Bridgestone- I know they are a touring tire, but the Serenity tire is quiet and very reliable!

I just put a set of Coopers CS4's on my S80 drive great price about 40.00 tire less then everyone that you listed and had a $50.00 rebate.
I am happy with them they are H rated.

I put the Cooper CS4 on about six months ago. I am happy and like you more concerned with noise but also cost. In GA we need good wet weather traction and this performs well on my V70.

Cooper does not sell to the oem market and because of that, does not have to overcharge in the replacement market.

I would put them side by side with Mich..... which my wife has on her Lexus.

4500 lbs
Where did you get that info?
An S60 is 1000 lbs LESS at about 35-3600 lbs

Try Conti Extreme DWS.
A brand new tire, fabulous and not very expensive
An ultra high performance ALL SEASON tire

Are they made by continental tires?
What kind of price range are they in? 140.00 a tire.

I have Yokohama YK520s ( a Discount Tire Store exclusive I think). Fairly quiet, rides rougher than the Perelli P6's I had before, but better in snow and treadlife is ALOT better. These YK520s are warranted to last at least twice as long(55k I think) and cost less, so if price is an issue, they are a good buy. FYI...they dont last as long as the warranty says, but Discount Tire is great about giving prorationed credit when they dont last.

I liked how the Perelli's rode, but they cost more and the tread was gone after 20-25k.

If you have 17" wheels, these will rub the wheel wells, but I need to try some things I read in other posts regarding that.
Good luck
