XC90 remote options

So our xc90 remote was lost outside if the grass for a week or so and was just found near a sandbox by one of the neighborhood kids. It worked for the last few days and finally gave up yesterday. I bought a new batter not thinking that it could be damaged internally (sprinkler/rain, etc). When I put the battery in the doors lock, if I push a button the entry lights come on (yellow button function) and when I take the battery out it unlocks the doors. Other than that no functions work...

So what are my options for getting a new remote. Are they reprogrammable if I get one from eBay???

No you can't buy one from ebay. They must be purchased brand new in the original packaging. There is a barcode that comes with the remote that is required when you go to download it to your car. 04- XC90's will use part number 8688799. It is possible to buy the new remote and take it to the nearest shop with VIDA and have them program it for you. They will charge you for labor and a software download.
