Passenger Strut Mount

Post by asg1986 »

Hey Everyone! I replaced my front passenger side spring seat. After replacing this part there is still a noise coming from the general area when hitting bumps, and sometimes it happens while turning. I went back to make sure that everything was tightened properly, and it is. I'm wondering if it is the copper looking bolt (round thing with four rectangular sides) that sits underneath the rubber above the wheel well visible from the engine bay. Is it not tightened enough? All of the other suspension parts seem to be in good shape...

A better explanation: Upon opening the hood you see both strut tower on either side of the engine. On the top of the tower is 4 bolts, the big middle bolt has a rubber thing under it. Just beneath that there is that weird looking thing that requires channel locks-- this is the part I'm referring to...

The thing you see in the engine compartment is the strut mount.
When I did my first strut replacement myself, I did not get the
nut at the very top tight enough... compare the side with the replacement
to the side that was left alone to see how much thread is showing
above the nut. good luck, Phil

Double check that you got your sway bar end links back tight. They can feel tight and still be loose. The "Cross shaped" nut being loose can also cause the problem but usually not.

I'll check that out. It made the noise when I was braking hard today as well...
