bought a car w "bad transmission" to part out engine. was planning to sell engine whole, then changed mind and bought another 940- then realized difference between bosch vs regina, Long story short someone looked at this car (bosch), theorized that tranny not bad but just badly repaired and advised me to check filter placement.
today I did that. filter is seated, gasket there. Cannot see through filter though because what's drained out is motor oil. thick as pudding.
theories? ideas? advice? what are cross compatibilities through different years and models for transmissions? We've got some volvos in the yard but they are older.
I've been offered:
transmission: 140$ + small delivery fee from one guy
transmission: 210+ 150 labor from my local volvo side guy
or I can get the trans and wait around for however long it takes to cajole some guys or my brother or my dad to help me out. Or do it in between when I can get my 3 year old to take naps. So, in 45 minute increments during the week.
OR, I can sell the engine whole and forget the trans altogether and cannibalize the rest of the car
