S40 2005 Intermittently difficult to start

Post by jinboo »

45K. For the first time on Tuesday after work I had difficulty getting my S40 started. Battery is starter seem fine. After several minutes of trying (and cursing), it started right up. Thinking maybe I accidentally flooded it, I was very careful on Wednesday and had no problems. Thursday morning it started right up but after work it would not start. After about 5 minutes of trying and cursing it again started right up with no sputtering, like nothing happened. After work I had several errands to run and it started after each stop with no problems. It seems like sensor problem. Any ideas?

Sounds like maybe the the car is not recognizing the key randomly. The place you put the key in when you go to start the car is a pretty common replacement part for this car. It will go bad for some reason and cause an issue like this.
