Hello. I just bought a used 2001 v70 t5. It is in excellent shape, looks brand new and even smells new. It runs great everything works. It has 155k miles and ran great when I test drove it about 100 miles. The seller was 2nd owner who brought it as a certified used car. He owned it since 2003 and he has all the repair records. The only thing I noticed was a slight surge sometimes when it was idling. I thought that it can be taken care of by an adjustment or tune up so I thought I got a good deal when the seller gave it to me for $4k.
As soon as I brought it home I began to research the idle surge and had this crash course on the ETM problem of Volvos. Needless to say I know think I made a hugh mistake. The car is very nice and I would like to keep it if I can get the ETM problem fixed for a reasonable price. I poured over the repair records and found that a warranty work was done on July 12, 2006 for "Service Campaign 155" it also listed 1 30785453 9 ETM/ECM P UPGR. It also said ETM software upgrad was performed.
I am wondering if the car is still covered by the 10 year, 200,000 mile warranty if it has already been replaced in 2006? The 2006 work was done by Power Volvo here in Cerritos, CA.
I am worried about this problem as it may be a safety issue. In this morning's LA Times, the headline is about Toyota massive problems regarding sudden acceletation troubles that started when it began to use eletronic throttle controls. There have been many fatalities with the toyota problem. See story

I have always admired volvo wagons and would like to keep this one for a few years, but I would like to cut my losses it you think I bought a big problem. I would like to hear your advice.
Thanks.
