Brake Pedal Position sensor

Post by atxf4i »

My cruise control doesn't work and my abs light is on - I pulled my codes and got a 1-4-1. I read the tutorial and replacing the sensor seems easy enough...but where can I get one? My local auto parts stores do not have it, IPD doesn't nor e-bay (on a quick search). Ya'll think one from a salvage yard would work or is it a stealership item?

Thanks,
Dale

FCP should have it and yes one from a yard should be ok.

There was a great writeup on Ozbrick on how to repair the switch itself but the pictures seem to have vanished. It still may be helpful from the text.

Even if you just replace it be sure to bleed down the vacuum on the brake booster before you remove the switch (Just hit the brakes a dozen times or so with the engine off). The vacuum will suck the O ring into the booster if you don't.

Hi

Just did mine. Essentially as the writeup says - get rid of booster pressure, pull the sensor out, get it apart (the hardest part of it! ) and resolder the connections.

I had 141 and 142 from memory. Now no codes, no ABS light, and cruise & TRACS work again.

While you're there, reset the service light if you havent already.

Cheers
