ETM recall in engine or engine bay?

Post by FireFox31 »

Hello, I recently had the engine in my 2000 V70 manual replaced with a 102k mile used engine. I had the ETM recall performed years ago on my old engine. Suddenly, the replacement engine began exhibiting symptom #1 listed here.

Are the ETM recall components installed into the engine or into other components in the engine bay? Did my old engine take its fixed ETM to the scrapyard with it?

The low idle symptoms set on very quickly. I've only driven the car a few times in the month since the engine replacement. Notably, it had been sitting for about 10 days before I drove it today and first experienced these drastic symptoms.

Thanks for any information you can provide.

The recall software is downloaded via CAN network to both the ETM (on the engine) and ECM (in the engine compartment). Since you have had the engine replaced the ETM that came with it might or might not have the recall software in it. In any case you can still reload the ETM with the up to date software.
