Hello everyone,
I've had a bad start to the new year, at least as far as cars are concerned. My 2001 S40 1.9L just died while driving today. The car has 99956 miles. While I was driving today, the dash lit up like a Christmas tree and then died. Now it has been pushed to the side of the road and it just wont start. When the key is turned, the winter mode arrow flashes but the engine doesn't turn over. I've tried jumping it just in case it was the charging system but it still didn't turn. I've been reading other threads and they seem to suggest that the transmission may have packed in but I saw that most other people with the blinking winter mode light don't have the non-start problems. I'm guessing that there is some safety mechanism that is stopping the engine from starting. I've left the car at the side of the road with the battery disconnected to see if the code clears and I can get it running in the morning to limp it home or to a shop. Any ideas?
Thanks
