I have a 2005 Volvo XC90. I've owned it for just over a year and it has around 90,000 miles. I did not purchase an extended warranty - big mistake!! I had it only a week and I had to take it back to the Volvo dealership as I couldn't turn the key in the ignition switch. They ended up replacing it at no cost to me.
I recently got an error message that said anti skid service required and no longer have AWD. I took it to the Volvo dealer and they found that the Differential Electronic Moldule has to be replaced with the software reload and the DEM cost and labor it comes to $2,168.00.
They then found the car had an oil leak from the PCV oil trap to fix that it would cost around $1,352.00 with parts and labor.
Next was the Cam cover seals leaking - that project will cost me $1,118.50
So far I am up to $4638.50 in repairs. Plus there are more things to be fixed on it, around $3,000 more in repairs.
Do not purchase the XC-90. They tell you how great there safety records are but not the terrible problems the vehichles have and the expensive repairs.
Has anyone else had problems with anti-ski issues and the differential electronic modules??
Thanks.
