I have the same thing on my 2004. It is not the fuse, at least not on this one. The radio and I mean the whole panel just quits working. It will stay quite for several trips then comes alive at the next start up. Some times it just stops in the middle of a trip, or starts up.
I have checked the fuses, as that was my first thought the first time it stopped. Imagine my surprise when the radio came alive the next trip!
Does anyone have any ideas on this one??

I don't know if my experience was the same but one very cold morning (hovering around 0 F) when I went to turn on the radio, it said "High Performance Sound" then went blank. Pressed the power again, same thing. After the cabin got a little warmer, the radio started working with a catch. I would check the electrical connections going to the radio. Other than my CD changer dying, it has worked well. Luckily, I was able to dissect the changer to retrieve my CD's. Now I just have to save up enough $$ to buy the Dension gateway!
I've experience the same situation. Each and everyone of your situations. I've called the dealer after checking the fuse and wires and current check. It turn out to be a software problem. The dealer had to diagnose the problem to find out a software problem and had to replace the complete radio. I have to wonder if this will happen again. This car is completely computerize! They had to order a new radio in which it took two days and then had to compute the radio to recognize the car.

How much did that cost you for the new radio?

Anyone figure out this problem yet, been researching it for months with no answers. I have 05 XC90 and the AM/FM band quit, but the CD works fine, so would this indicate the amplifier is working, no fuse issues? I push radio and screen lights up for a second, then shuts off, no radio. Screen works fine for menu selection, but the minute you hit radio screen goes out.
I have replace the radio control panel capacitors as another site had suggested, no luck, same problem. I went to salvage yard and got one radio, that was a wasted of money as it did not even light up fiber optic light or panel screen. So that one had a power problem. Went and purchased another, and it does the same thing, lights up for second and then shuts off, so this would indicate it is not the radio head using common sense. Anyone else ever replace radio, and did it solve problem, or is each radio unit specific to vehicle which some said.
Before I replace amplifier, I wondered about the radio antenna module in rear upper panel area. Sounds logical that this may be blowing down radio since it is specific to AM/FM operation, anyone have any experience with this module being bad, it does have fiber optic connection. Any help on this problem yet?
