Hi, I was driving along the other day and came to a junction and had to stop. When i pulled off it felt as if the car lacked power - as we all know the T5 is very responsive when we pull off but the normal feeling of power was not there. I soon realised that for some odd reason i was in sport mode as i noticed the little yellow arrow on the dashboard was lit. BUT, i wasn't in sport mode, the switch was on Economy Mode! Anyway, i switched fron Economy mode to Sport mode and back again and all has been well since! But my question is: Is it normal to have less power when pulling off than what i would have if i was in Economy mode bearing in mind the revs where the same? Sorry if i have not explained myself clearly! Simon. ps any views will be gratefully received as i fear a fault with the automatic box.

It seems to me that you had actually gone into 'limp home mode' which is how the box protects itself if it has detected anything that would set a fault code.

In many cases there isn't a problem and yours would seem to be one of those as it has gone back to normal operation.

Have the codes read to see if anything was stored.

Bill.

it sounds to me like you hit the "winter" mode button when you accidentally hit the sport button. the arrow will come on in winter mode and will start you in 3rd gear, which equals really slow accelaration.

As well as transmission over heating and crazy wear because it is slipping the bands between a tall gear and low RPM from a stop.

The LAST thing I wanna do is deal with a Toasted Tranny....
Starting off in 3rd on purpose just makes no sense to me.
Not At All good on the transmission. I can almost smell the burning clutch-packs.
Besides, growing up driving on ice, learning how to find the good traction and
roll it on with with a feather foot pretty much comes with the territory.
That's really all you need.
