Prepping for reinstalling head and have some questions
1) Headbolts look fine yet manual suggests replacing with new ones - wondering if everyone follows this instruction
2) "Volvo liquid gasket solution" is this only option for upper/lower head interface. Anyone ever use loctite 510 flange sealant?
3) For cleaning head gasket surface area on head can one use a fine scotchbrite pad or is that too abrasive
4) A friend suggested I include a light coat of aviation gasket sealer on head gasket surface as a belt and suspenders approach. While I like stacking the odds in our favor I am worried this may have some negative impact - anyone want to weigh in?
Tks Gary

1) Headbolts look fine yet manual suggests replacing with new ones - wondering if everyone follows this instruction. If the bolts have only been removed once, you can get away with reusing them. Personally, I would get new ones.
2) "Volvo liquid gasket solution" is this only option for upper/lower head interface. Anyone ever use loctite 510 flange sealant? Do not use loctite sealant. I think you can use RTV but the volvo stuff would be best.
3) For cleaning head gasket surface area on head can one use a fine scotchbrite pad or is that too abrasive That should be ok.
4) A friend suggested I include a light coat of aviation gasket sealer on head gasket surface as a belt and suspenders approach. While I like stacking the odds in our favor I am worried this may have some negative impact - anyone want to weigh in? I don't recommend it.

Personally, I'd go with the new bolts. They are to be stretch bolts and really you don't wanna run the risk of having to do it all over again.
