I bought an s40, and after taking in constantly just found out it has a worped cylinder...I haven't even had it a full yr so it had to have been sold to me like that. I need to replace the cylinder hd but dealership is charging $3000!
I've spoken to a rebuilder and it doesn't look like the existing head can be saved...and the dealership has already partially torn down the engine.
Is there a cheaper way to handle this? Should I purchase a new head myself will that be cheaper? and have it towed elsewhere to someone who can complete the job at a cheaper price?
help...any advice??
s40 w/worped cylinder, need advice

You may want to consider a rebuilt head or taking the one you have to a machine shop to see if it can be straightened and rebuilt.
If your head is too far warped you can always buy a salvage used head and have it rebuilt. Or if its from a low mileage car that didn't overheat you could put it on.
Whichever method you choose you will come out under $3000.
Erie might (see add above)have a good one used.
