V70 Purge Valves

Post by morevert »

My 1998 V70 only accepts fuel refilling at very slow rate. Earlier posts say the Purge Valve is at fault. When I check for my Purge Valve, it appears thear are two attached by Fan Shroud, a round shaped unit part # Bosch 02801423000 & a rctangular shaped Valve with two input lines located on top of Shroud. The round shaped valve also has an inline Filter. I don't get any error code from this problem, just the slow filling symtom. Which Purge Valve should I replace?

Is it actually the Purge Line Filter that needs replacement & not one of the Purge Valves?

Filter's worth a shot. I would start with the round one, since it's the closest to the canister, and SHOULD control the fuel tank pressure.

Sure, you'll set a code, but go try to put gas in the tank with those lines disconnected & see if you can.

One trick I also found with my Honda - I don't know if this will work for you or not - is that I had to hold the pump nozzles up & into the filler neck slightly so that it was not resting on its own in the car, and make sure the joint in the hose connection thingy before the handle wasn't turned at a right angle. Sounds weird, but for some reason it worked. I suspect I didn't seal the tank right after I replaced the fuel pump - there was no longer a WOOSH of air when I took off the gas cap on an almost empty tank, and it was hard to get to fill after that.
