Replacing ETM in 2001 V70 non-turbo

Post by zoonet »

I have a 2001 non-turbo V70 that is showing all the signs of a failing ETM (fluctuating RPM's, surging etc). I spoke with the dealer and got the expected corporate speech, so I am looking to replace the unit with the Xemodex one. MY questions are these, how difficult is it to replace the unit (does anyone have pictures) and the dealer made a big deal about ensuring that the correct software is loaded.Does the Xemodex unit have the correct software? I have had the software upgraded when the problem first appeared.

Thanks

Don't spend the money on the Xemodex.

Read my post on volvoforums.

It needs to be cleaned very well and your battery needs to be replaced. Yes the battery is over $200 but you better pay now or pay later. There are many voltage sensitive electronics and sensors in this car that require a good battery.
