98 V70 non turbo, no fuel

Post by Voyager AL »

weird problems. yesterday, i put on a cap, rotor, new wires, and plugs, and a fuel filter. that seemed to have ended my stumble when the A/C was on. So i hooked up my boat and went to the river. Boat problems shortened that outing. On the way home, the car died on a hill. Not fun in getting a boat off the car and onto another car, on a hill. had the car pulled home. Seems to be a fuel problem. No pressure at the rail, and I am stumped as to where to start looking. Help?

Well seeing as the only fuel-related maintenance you did was the fuel filter, I would start there. Check for leaks or disconnected hoses.

When you turn the car on to Position II, do you hear the soft whine sound that the fuel pump makes when it turns on?

fuel isnt the problem now. Plugs are wet. No spark, intermittantly. It started and ran for 45 seconds, then no spark. Ohming the disconnected cam position sensor, and have no continuity between the 3 pins

bought a used OEM cam position sensor, and still no start. Fuel rail has gas in it, but not at a hi pressure when i unload the schrader valve. It just rolls out. Where do i look next? Spark seems ok, pulled 1 plug and cranked, it sparks every few seconds/cranks.

Jumper the socket positions associated with pins 15 and 87 on the fuel pump relay (103) and then check for fuel pressure again. You can use a paper clip to do it.
