2000 V40 headlights

Hello VolvoWorld,

Does anybody know if is there any way to program the daytime running head lights off during daylight hours yet... have them turn on at night automatically ?
...(does my V40 even have a light sensor to allow auto lites on when dark ? )

Daytime running lights are at less than full power and not as bright as normal headlights. You don't want your daytime running lights on at night.

The daytime running lights (DRL) are either on or off, depending on your choice. I can't find any reference to an auto lights sensor for the V40.

This is from the owner's manual if you want to turn the DRL off or on.

Daytime Running Lights:

The S40 and V40 come from the factory with daytime running lights activated. Carry out the following steps if you will deactivate them. These steps may be carried out again to reactivate and deactivate the daytime running lights as desired.

Programming for On or OFF

Turn the headlight switch to position .

Turn the ignition key in position II.

Pull the turn signal lever towards you and hold it while turning the headlight switch to position 0.

If the green light underneath the headlight switch is on the daytime running lights are on.

WARNING!
Do not activate or deactive the Daytime Running Lights while driving.
