Swap ETM and ECU
I have access to a 99 V70 parts car, and a 99 S70, while the running car has no ETM problems as of now, is it possible to swap the ETM and ECU from the V70 to avoid any reprogamming ? or should I just sell it off ?
Just compare the firmware versions on the ETM's There's a chance they will match and all you have to do is install the ETM it's the number under the top bar code on the bottom of the ETM starts with 86***** mine is 8644345.
Have you tried cleaning it? and lubricating the plate shaft. I think 99's had the biggest problem with the wipers being too stiff and wearing through the resistor strip.
I don't think the ETM and ECU swap will work because there are other modules that are in the network and they might not Comm with the ECU.

I know it's an old post, but I wanted to add something more definitive: you can swap the ETM as long as the two are on the same software versions (i.e. recall software or non-recall software). The ECU cannot be swapped. If you do, the immobilizer won't authorize the car to start, the structure week on the ECU may be different from the one stored in the CEM's car configuration file, etc. At best, it won't work, at worst, you risk corrupting ViTAL and have to tow the car to a dealership/VIDA-equipped garage so Volvo can put the car in program mode and reload the network.fast850 wrote:I don't think the ETM and ECU swap will work because there are other modules that are in the network and they might not Comm with the ECU.
