Motor mount bad?

Post by outdoor7or24 »

Hey, I am wondering if my hydraulic motor mounts are shot. Photos included.

1995 855 Turbo with 210+K on the odometer and I am having front end issues still (if you search you can see my previous posts). I get a shimmy when I apply the brakes, I feel like something shifts when turning sometimes - its like I turn and sometimes I feel a shift in the steering wheel like I am maybe understeering???

I have replaced most everything in the front end (4 tires-20k on them, volvo control arms, drivers cv axle, Koni yellow struts, IPD HD spring seats, volvo strut mounts, new bolts, inner and outer tie rods, new brake lines, rebuilt front brake calipers).
I have also replaced the the lower transmission mount, the timing belt side -lower motor mount, and the torque arm mounts as well.

Things that I know are wrong on the front end: steering rack is leaking

From the picture that mount does not look healthy. Throw a jack under the engine with a wood block and jack it it up slightly to see if the mount separates. I have one that looks only slightly worse but when I dropped the subframe doing a clutch change I found it had broken completely in half.

Looks kinda bad. If the left side of your engine is almost touching or touching the rubber bumpers on the subframe, then time to change. I just changed both front and rear about month ago. The front one wasn't as bad as the rear one but, it was a big PITA. Get someone to help you on this one and give yourself plenty of time.

Oh, I forgot to add there is a jump when shifting from R to D...

Do ya'll think this could be causing my shimmy problem?
I am getting tired of turning rotors because they wear uneven............ I am starting to think they wear uneven due to motor mounts allow everything to shift from side to side....
Just a thought.

This should have nothing to do with your braking problem
