Could someone post pics of how an 850 moonroof sits?

Post by jimmy joe »

hi
trying to figure out my 850 moonroof (making noise but not moving)
and it is sitting uneven, front to rear and side to side, but not leaking.
i figure I will have to give her some force to even her out, but it would really help if I had an idea of what a working one looks like, so I go in the right direction!

Thanks

DON'T force anything.
For it to sit lopsided you have a broken track or guide inside, you only will make things worse by trying to force it

it is most likely a broken mount, but it could just need adjusting, or loose.
in any case, you can remove the two plastice covers by the tracks, and find the screws there.
the covers pop off very easily, but better with the glass in the vent position.
i posted a link below showing how to access that area.
adjust, or replace, if needed.
i changed mine out, am i am in no way mechanically inclined.

thanks.
I am admittedly intimidated by the darn thing. She won't vent, just kind of jams back and forth when I try the motor. Something is definitely derailed.
Guess I will have to start taking her apart and figure it out.

Sure would be nice to have her in use with the hot weather!

Once your remove the glass you will see that the mounting points are on slots rather than holes - that is where the adjustments are made to make the glass flush with the roofline.

it can be removed safely if it's not in the vent position, just a little tricky.
just be careful, when it does come out, it does so very easily. Don't let it slip out of your hands.

AH! I'm also in need of this.

About two months ago, I was opening my moonroof and accidentally went to vent when I really wanted to open it completely. I switched the direction to lower it and now it's stuck. It only partially vents on the driver's side (passenger side stays closed) and it simply will not open.
