Hello everyone.

I'm having trouble with the A/C in my 1992 740 wagon. The A/C relay isn't with the fuse panel, or under the hood as far as I can tell. Where is it?

Thanks in advance.

Christopher,
This answer might be orthogonal to your question but when my 740A/C started being intermittent I found that it was the switch . I stole the antenna switch that I always thought redundant anyway, tied the antenna power leads together,it will go down when you shut the car down or turn off the radio. I popped out one of the blank spots on the dash popped in the switch and wired the A/C to the switch. works great. Hope this helped

Phil,

Thanks for the reply. When you say you wired the A/C to the switch, are you talking about the signal that goes to the "A/C off" button on the heater control, or another connection to the A/C?

I'm hoping to find the relay, so I can try and manually engage the compressor to see if it's working at all.

Thanks.

Chistopher,
Its been several years I will have to check my repair log ( yes I am one those guys ) A quick check if you haven't done so already is to jump out the freon low temp switch (near firewall pasagers side right as it passes into thru the firewall )monentarily if the compressor kicks on you are just low on charge. If it does not ,there is a wire coming off the A/C clutch and a connector near the engine block. Disconnect it and jump a wire from battery 12V + to see if the clutch coil is any good. If it pulls in and runs then you still need to find what is holding your 12V from the clutch. I will seek enlightenment in my log book
