Did an oil change on my 99 v70-xc today, and while I was under there i saw a part obviously missing 3 screws. The screws were 3mm heads, either allen or torq head (very dirty) and should have been helping to hold the cover plate of this part on. It is located rear of the oil cooler, it is a silver box maybe 6x8 inches and about 2 inches thick, can anyone tell me what it is?
Cheers.
What is my part missing hardware?

Are there any hoses, wires or pipes coming off of that odd-looking, never-seen-it-before box? And if so, where do they go? I'll guess it's an after market device of some sort.

Actually, here's an idea...
It doesn't look like it holds liquid of any kind; take off the remaining screws and see what's inside! I'm curious...

Looks like a really big bevel gear vibration damper. Is it attached to the bevel gear?

That certainly looks like it, I will get some torx screws to fill in the remaining three holes to tidy that thing up.
Thanks.
Thanks.
