Glove compartment strut replacement

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Glove compartment strut replacement

Post by lev »

Hi all Ihave a 99 S80 that I used the repair instructions for the blower motor replacement.
All went well except replacing the glove box strut.
I evidently have large hands and getting the strut in place has gotten the best of me,
after several attempts I was able to get the strut extended and in place but could not push it fully in place,
because when I pull my large mitts out of the area the strut disconects.
Is there a retainer that I may have broken when I pulled the stut off its mount?
Thanks in advance
Larry

There is no retainer on the bottom end of the strut. It just slides onto a rod. You need someone with smaller hands!
