First step is to make sure I am looking at the right part. The part I am talking about is plugged into the air intake manifold. If you are facing the engine with the hood open, go left from the air filter to the intake manifold and there is a sensor plugged into the metal manifold. I found a picture of an engine similar to mine and put an arrow pointing to about the location where I reach under the manifold to get at the sensor. Is this the right sensor?

The sensor I found on eEuroparts looks like this:

The one in my engine at the point indicated looks very similar to the picture above, except there is no part where I have circled. It simply has two small electrical connectors protruding. Could this be the problem that that little protruding tower is broken off? And if so, where is the broken part? Is it blocking up my air intake? Yikes.
Before I panic I want to be sure I have the right part. I learned the hard way from replacing purge valve that there are a lot of parts that look the same. I will photograph my seemingly broken IAT sensor and add to this post later if it owuld help
