C-70 won't start

Post by LucMan »

Any Ideas what to look for would be appreciated
I have a 2001 C-70 HT turbo coupe 87K. The car won't start occasionally happens every few month's. Here are the symptoms. The car cranks over then will fire for a few seconds then quit. The car then will crank but won't start, I can hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds when the key is turned on. The car always starts again eventually by turning the key on and off and cranking for a couple of seconds, but this may take 10 minutes or so of retrying to start the car. I usually let it sit for a minute between tries, and if it doesn't fire immediately I stop cranking and let it sit.
I have replaced the fuel pump assembly and the fuel pump relay as in the past I thought that the fuel pump was not running. If I press the shraeder valve on the injector rail there seems to be plenty of pressure and fuel.
This has been happening for over 2 years maybe 4-6 times per year.
thanks in advance.

Just to get you started, and you do not have any codes showing up. When the key is in run mode does your fuel pump cut out? ECM is not telling the the fuel pump to work. This wiring harness at the ECM should be cleaned, and ground wires checked?

Yes the fuel pump cuts out after several seconds. Should it run continuously?
I will clean and check the ECM connections.
thanks

Ok removed the ECM and cleaned contacts and connector. Removing the module is a little tricky it took me some time figure out how to release the module.
For anyone else trying to remove the ECM module from the connector, the 2 purple plastic lockdown tabs at the bottom connector need to be pushed all the way toward the front of the car before the module will be released. The tabs need to be pushed a little at a time alternately otherwise they will jamb up against the module and not slide forward.
