Post by golfnbroker »

I have a 2005 V70. I want to replace the upper motor mount. I have ordered one to be delivered. Could anyone give me a step-by-step on the replacement. Thanks for your help. Terry

0. For Turbos remove the hard tube running over the engine from front to back. Losing the ring clamp in front to separate the hard tube from the rubber. Two other torx screws need to be remove that hold the tube in place. You can leave the rear connected and just push the tube around when needed.
1. Remove the stabilizer bar, running across the top of the engine. This is done by removing the 4 blots, 2 on each side where the stabilizer mount to the wheel well.
2. Remove the bolt connecting the stabilizer bar to the top engine mount.
3. Place stabilizer bar aside.
4. Remove the plastic cover over the spark plugs.
5. You now have access to the bolts holding the top engine mount.
6. Install in reverse order.

Not a difficult job, just take your time. The above is from memory from doing a S60, but the process should be the same. Another mount to check is the transmission mount under the engine. It's easier then the upper mount and tends to wear out also.
