Hello there - This is my 1st post and I'm currently pulling my hair out. Have a s80 D5 2003 Automatic. Loved her until a fortnight ago! Still do actually. Since then had to get the starter reconditioned and the flex plate replaced in the transmission. (This all came about because of starting issues). Since then have had real problems starting when the engine is warm. Have also noted a roughness in engine sound when accelerating. If anyone has any similar probs I would love to hear how you got sorted out.
Regards,
Vinny

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.
Have you tried disconnecting the engine temperature sensor when you have this problem? It fools the ECU into thinking it is cold and switches on the glow plugs. It should then fire up immediately. This isn't a fix but it helps to rule out some things.
Bill.
