Tire Recommendation for xc90

The XC90 proved to be very popular, and very good for Volvo's sales numbers, since its introduction in model year 2003 (North America). P2 platform.

Tire Recommendation for xc90

Post by jbarrow8081 »

Hi - I have a 2004 XC 90 with 72k miles. I am in the market for some all season tires. Is there a particular brand/model that anyone - including Volvo recommends? Thanks for the help with this. Joe

Volvo uses wither Pirelli scorpion or Michelin MXV4 as standard. I don't have any experience with the Pirelli, but I had the MXV4's on mine, while they are very quite, they are also very expensive and VERY soft. I have seen people say they wear out within 25-30K miles, maybe even less on the AWD. I did a lot of research and went with the BIG O big foot s/t. It is a very good all weather design. They have been on a year now and I still love them, 10K miles and not a bit of wear yet, WAY better in snow then the MXV4's and I paid about $800 for all for, I have the 18" wheels. Plus they have a 65K mile wear warranty which is better than anything else I could find for an SUV tire.

agree with earlier writer on Michelins, good ride but wear out way too quick and are pricey. I now have Kumho Road VentureAPT's. Good handling and price and wearing well, but a bit too noisy for me. Will try something else in the future.

Again i agree with stone36 about expensive tyres, I use General Grabber UHP for my AWD in the UK, superb tyres good tread depths and pattern, i use in all seasons, look pretty good on the car too!! cost difference Mitchelins £200.00 per tyre, Grabbers £ 114.00 per tyre uk pricing, some say there is more road noise but i can honestly say there is no difference, happys Scootay

I've never heard of them. I certainly wouldn't cheap out on tires. My new to me XC90 came with a set of 255/55/18 Falkens on it and they're awful. The falkens only have about 3000 miles on them but they're so bad that I ordered a set of Michelin's to put on it this weekend.

I ordered these Latitude Tour HPs.

The come as new OEM tires on the Acura MDX and i've had wonderful success in the past with them. They are able to go 45-50k on the MDX. We'll see how they do on the XC90.
