They are good performance brakes. The downside to any drilled or slotted rotors is that the rotors tend to eat up brake pads. Go with a hard pad material that is matched for the rotor. You cannot get drilled/slotted rotors milled or resurfaced.

Ceramic pads will perform well with drilled rotors (I can get almost 20K miles on my 944). With a soft pad material you could be changing pads as often as the oil.

'96 854 - died an early death with 184K miles. Killed by the front end of an LTD on a suicide mission (T-boned and both cars totaled).

I did the brakes with brembo rotors standarded not slotted or drilled and a hard pad (lifetime warranty) about 18 months ago. I was rotating the tires back in February and noticed my rotors were eaten up. I pulled the pads and rotors off and took them back. The parts guy explained that the pads were simply to hard for the rotors and thus the rotors were wearing rather than the pad. I had to replace again and since the pads had plenty of meat on them there was no warranty. Went with same rotors but a cheap pad.

I've had Brembo on an 850 as well as my S70 but have always used Volvo pads. Most after market pads have had a squeal.

I put Brembo cross-drilled brakes on both my '97 850 and my 98 V70 AWD last summer. These rotors are excellent and with Monroe brake pads (no squeel) produce a lot less brake dust than factory Volvo pads and rotors. Both sets of rotors have about 10k miles on them with no problems, uneven wear, or scorching.

The cross-drilled rotors also look great if you've got the proper rims.
