You will have to have the codes read to know for sure, but it sounds to me like a bad coolant temperature sensor. The thermostat should be replaced at the same time.

i had the codes read and got ECM-715D is stored if the temp in the control module exceeds 75degrees, subtitute value; engine cooling fan runs at low speed
