740 Sparkplug OEM

SO learning the 740 world I have more total NOOB questions- I have read through the interwebs ad nauseum on this subject - and I am still confused.

Usually when I get a *new* car I grab a set of NGK plugs and wires - but from what I am reading from this and other sites

1. Bougicord are the ignition wires to use
2. OEM plugs are best

SO I went looking for these. I found the wires...but I went looking on iPd and FCP Groton to look for OEM plugs and they both sell Bosch and NGK for an 89 740

After all the stories on the forum about how "My engine sucked @$#% till I tossed the Bosch and went OEM" I am hesitant to order these.

Is this urban legend? Should I look for Denso Iridium? Bosch 4 prong? or just simple 1.99 Bosch copper-core?

Which engine does your 89 740 have. I have used NGK copper spark plugs for many years with good results.

I too have used NGK copper for more years than I can remember. They are good, easy to obtain and reasonably inexpensive.

Who makes the OEM plugs? Not Volvo!

I recently looked up what spark plug is OEM. Everything I read indicated that it was Bosch either WR6DC or WR7DC. But the Bosch Super Plus spark plugs are no longer manufactured in Germany. They are now being manufactured in Brazil. My local NAPA parts store told me that they have to keep extra Bosch Super Plus spark plugs in stock because they are of such poor quality that they fail too soon.

Interesting. Obviously those nice people at Bosch are on an economy drive.

We once did a TV commercial for AC Delco plugs and the car broke down on the way to the shoot. The replacement car was running on some other plugs but we didn't tell the film crew.

Thanks for the replies - She has the B230F 8 valve Bosch engine - I think I will go with the NGK
