replacing control panel bulbs

Hello.
I need help [/u][/b[/b]]to take off the control panel cover so I can replace the 3 bulbs# 30618412 on my 2003 volvo S40.
Is it possible to take out the center panel only are do I have to take the radio out fist before I can remove the center panel. :mrgreen:

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

I assume you mean the dashboard environment panel which is above the radio. If so, the radio stays in:

The 'special tool' is a weather strip tool which can be bought at any car parts store or can be made out of a length of plastic strip.

If you need to remove the radio in future you have to take out the environment panel.

Thanks Bill.
I removed the dashboard environment panel however I was unable to removed the 3 bulbs. I did notice that the top section of the panel for the vent & hazzard switch have two screws also bottom section for the radio. Should I remove the two screws from the top panel to get to the bulbs.Help anyone!!!!!!

here is a manual for replacing these backlights click It's in Bulgarian, but the pictures speeks in international :)
