Stuck Ashtray

Hello all.
I've got a 1998 C70. For reasons unknown, my ashtray (the drawer in the center console) is stuck closed. It will move, very slightly, forward and backward. The only things in it are a piece of paper and a Chapstick. I've tried to pry it to the point where I'm afraid of breaking it.
Any ideas on why it's stuck or just getting this open would be greatly appreciated!

Push and pull on the ashtray a few times. They have a soft opener in the back that breaks off and if it is not there it is hard to kick the lever up to get it past the lock posiyion on the side of the ashtray.

It is pretty firmly stuck. At most, it moves a quarter of an inch back and forth. And I don't understand about the lever and the soft opener. Would mine be gone/broken for some reason and that's why it's stuck?
