Post by motor1947 »

I HAVE A 2001 V70 T5 W/147000 MILES AND CAN SEE MANY PROS IN CHANGING TO SYNTHETIC OIL AND WAS WONDERING IF THERE ARE ANY CONS TO THE SWITCH.

In general no. However, if any of the seals/ gaskets are being helped by build up the use of synthetics may cause the build up to dissolve and allow the gaskets/seals to start leaking. Also do not believe the hype that you can go 10-15 thousand miles between oil changes. I still change my oil every 6K, I am probably overdoing it, but if the engine last longer then it is a good thing.

WAY too many miles to convert, use a SEMI-synthetic

Did my V70 at 120k. Used Seafoam in the crankcase to make sure and get all the junk... Car uses less oil and stays clean longer.
