Help with 19x8.5 rims

Post by atefitty »

Does anyone know if I can run a 19x8.5 rim with 215/35 19 tires on my 1997 850R without any modifications to prevent rubbing?

My 7.5 inch rims force the tyre to rub at both left & right lock on the inner liners (both front wheels) when the tyres are actually LEVEL with the outer edge of the mudguards.

Tyres in use are 205/50/17 though ideally they should be 45s to retain stock rolling circumference.

At the rear you can squeeze 235s on 7.5 inch rims with the correct offset but just remember that a 8.5 inch rim is designed for a at least a 255mm width.

The 215 size tyre will look cone shaped when fitted to a 8.5 inch rim & I doubt the tyre fitter will fit them.
