Introducing...Midwest-ABS.com

Post by Matty Moo »

Well, it's just an introduction. It's my first website. It's not 100% complete-not even close. I have to upload product pictures, fix some checkout things, add more content, etc. BUT, it's up and going. It even has a shoutout to MVS, and will have a MVS banner on there somewhere soon, along with the usual MVS member discount.

Check it out, give me suggestions, give me criticism.

I started doing the ABS modules on the forums. Then I started on eBay a year ago. Word of mouth grew and eBay really took off, to the point where I hit 500 in less than a year, and have been hitting anywhere from 50-90/month. I never intended for that to happen, but it did.

Well, eBay sucks, to be nice. Great exposure, but incredibly unfriendly for sellers. They've created an atmosphere of "the customer is always right..no matter what" and the fees are insane. I'm getting people threatening me with negative feedback because their car was in a flood, people aren't returning cores and just general unsavory behavior from buyers. That place was fun when I signed up ten years ago. Now it's stressful and I want it out of my life.

MVS has been great. But, I liken it to living at mom and dad's house. After awhile you have to find your own place.

So, I decided last fall I'd start my own website. I kept putting it off, and the stress from eBay kept building up. I was grinding my teeth and getting rather pissed off with the entire scene, so last week I went at it...completely blind. I can use a computer, and that's it. But, I'm figuring it out quickly.

Son, it's time you found your own place to live. You're 40 years old.

Oh, I see you just did, well, good job ;-).
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

LOL, I tell the same thing to one of my long time buddies every time I see him. He is not 40 yet but he will be 29 soon so I think it is about time.

Matty,
Congrats and yes, ebay sucks! I've bookmarked your website as I WILL be needing your services soon. Your reputation from previous posters speaks for itself. I"m glad business is good. We will be speaking soon I'm sure, but first need to check wheel sensors! :o

I just did an ABS TRACS swap with Midwest through eBay. Everything worked as advertised, the unit I received was in as good shape as the one I sent him back (well, cleaner actually). It worked and I had my local garage do the swap for me so I didn't have to skin my knuckles. I'd do business with him again. I'm new to this forum, but if you ski or snowboard or have an Acura MDX you may have seen my screen name on forums related to those pursuits. I've done business with lots of online merchants and this was another clean, easy transaction. Thanks.

Well, the site is 98% finished. I could upload some pictures and maybe tweak a few things, but it seems to be doing what I wanted it to do. I never realized how much work something like this is..it's been a learning experience but it is paying off well. There's a lot more to it than just making it, my hat goes off to people that do this for a living.

I do have an Adwords account setup, and it is getting some decent exposure on google. It was slow at first, but is finally overtaking my eBay sales as of this week...which is exactly what I wanted to happen because of my extreme dislike for them.

As usual, thanks to Matt...most of my referrals still come through MVS. The funny thing is, most people think him and I are the same person. I spend a lot of time explaining that to people.

AND...all modules now ship with an E-5 socket. It seems like nobody could ever find them locally and everybody was asking for them.

I just did my ABS module this past weekend. Ordered on Wednesday, received on Friday, in on Saturday and mailed out old module and E5 socket tool on Tuesday.
Didn't have any issues with messing up the bolts (I did spray them with PB Blaster) and wanted to thank Matt for a very easy exchange.
Very easy to deal with and new module took care of my flashing arrow, speedometer and odometer "-----" and brake light went out. Saved me a lot of money and would highly recommend Midwest ABS.
