1996 960 shocks

Post by bojazer »

:? I am looking for replacement rear shocks for my 960 wagon. I have the indipendent suspension and the shock looks normal with bolt through attachments at both ends. However the lower end is larger diameter than the top. The lower end fits over a sleeve and the attaching bolt goes through the shock into the sleeve. I ordered shocks and they came with both top and bottom for the same size bolt. The only other option that was offered was the shocks with spring on for the self leveling model. Does anyone know what I need to ask for and where to get a decent price on?

I've gone through the same ordeal; Volvo is the only place you can get
shocks to fit . I have tried every where, the only one that fit are the volvo units.

Your car will have a Nivomat shock system, which is an automatic self leveling shock. They are made by Boge and available at the dealers as well as iPd (www.ipdusa.com), and probably some other parts suppliers. iPd is excellent to do business with, they really look after the Volvo owner.
