Hey Folks!
I am new to the forum and I am looking to buy a Volvo in the next few weeks. I have research various years of the s80 mainly 2000 and a few 2004's. I have heard horror stories of the earlier years, ie, transmissions , ETM's , control arm bushings etc.I believe . What else do need to look for? I have spent hours reading reviews, it's a mix bag, but I have had my heart on a volvos for years. I think I found a good deal, 2000 s80 t6 for $5900 ? Sound good? Which is a better set up the t6 or reg 2.9? Any help will be helpful! Thanks!

I will let others chime in but believed the 2000 S80 was one of the years to avoid due to ETM and trans issues. I am not 100% sure so I will let others chime in.

Honestly, there's a plethora of info and discussions from even the last couple of months on this board. If you have an option to get a good 04, do it. Do not pass go, do not collect $200.
A 2000 T6 for $5900 is not a good deal in any market IMO.

We just got back from an all day affair shopping for volvo's. After 3 week banter with an Conn. used car dealer, we got a 2004 s80 2.9lt . We r picking it up on wednesday and are very excited (at least i am, not sure about the wife). I believe we got a good deal according to the Mass/Ri market after shopping around. We got a 1 owner 2004 s-80 2.9 with 81k miles for $7999, we received a used car loan at 4.5% interest which is good due to the fact that i am over extended. It is and was a long dragged out search with many arguments, i am glad it came to a rest. I though the 2.9 engine would be kind of a bore, but was very please to see it had some pep!! Next step is to pick it up on wednesday and drop it off at mechanics to due a once over!!!
