Mystery whine returns

After a few months of no "mystery whine" or very minimal whining for a couple of minitues about once a week... The whine has returned.

It typically lasts throughout my 30-40 minute commute to work & is showing no signs of leaving...

Was there ever a consensus on what the issue was (from those that actually got it fixed?) How much $$ am I looking at? Thanks.

It's just something that the car does. It doesn't seem to be a problem

it's driving me batty... I can't stand the noise... it doesn't go away any more
