Trouble Installing Water Pump - 5/8" metal line won't seal

Post by takeiteezeee »

Hi, I have a 1992 940GL and I'm having trouble installing the water pump correctly. There's a 5/8" metal line which attaches to the water pump that I can't get to seal correctly. I don't know what this line is for, maybe the air conditioner? There isn't a typical male/female type fitting so I'm not sure how attach it.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Jim

the pipe should have a rubber seal on it and a bolt holds into pump.
Put the seal on the pipe against the ridge, Lube the seal with pure antifreeze so it will slip into hole in back of pump.

I had trouble with mine too. I went to Ace hardware and bought a couple of o-rings and used them in combination with the seal that came with the water pump. Sealed it right up, no problems.
