Bent Wheel-Big Issue??

Post by brandonbeach14 »

My wife ran over a huge pothole that bent the wheel out slightly on both sides and caused an egg on the tire. I replaced the tire, had the wheel balanced, and it's on the driverside rear. At high speeds there is a slight wobble. My concern is doing damage to the axle or bearings and not the tire wear. The cheapest replacement I found was $375 as they are the 17" wheels. I am also considering having the wheel repaired if needed. Thanks

Update: I have been told by the dealer and a senior memeber on the site that a slightly bent rear wheel is probably not a big issue and wouldn't likely damage the bearings or axle. It can cause the tire to wear uneven though. I was able to find several wheel reapirs shops varying from $85-$150. The wheel only has a slight wobble at high speeds and was more of an annoyance than a disruption in the movement of the car.
